The Morning Beauty Rituals You Should Start Doing Now

The way you spend your morning dictates how you feel going into your day. You know those mornings when your alarm doesn’t go off and now you have ten minutes to get ready and head out the door?

The way you spend your morning dictates how you feel going into your day. You know those mornings when your alarm doesn’t go off and now you have ten minutes to get ready and head out the door? Those days usually start off pretty stressful and it sets the mood up for the rest of the day to be the same way.

But when you wake up early and you have coffee out of your favorite coffee mug, complete every step of your skincare routine, and take your time getting ready - those are the best kinds of mornings. And if you don’t have a morning routine but you want to begin starting your day off on the right foot, we have the best beauty rituals you should add to your mornings.

#1 - What’s a Morning Routine Without Enough Sleep?

Most importantly, you want to make sure you are getting adequate sleep. You can have the most productive morning routine in the world but if you’re running on little to no sleep, it won’t make a difference. It’s recommended to get 7-8 hours of sleep every night.

But what does sleep have to do with skin? As we sleep, our skin takes a break from the constant attack of the outside environment and goes into a mode of intense repair and regeneration. This can lead to loss of moisture and a change of temperature in the skin. It can also increase the impact of the products that are applied to the skin at bedtime.

Extra Tip #1: Get the most out of your products by using active ingredients at night. Our Anti-Aging Bundle is perfect for letting the ingredients take effect as you sleep. (Swap the Anti-Aging SPF Moisturizer for a night cream).

#2 - Always Wash Your Face in the Morning

Since your skin goes through intense repair and regeneration as you sleep, it’s important to wash your face with a good cleanser when you wake up. Bacteria can accumulate on the skin throughout the night and with a good face wash in the morning, you set your skin up on a clean slate.

Extra Tip #2: Dermatologists recommend switching out your pillow case at least once a week. Pillow cases carry a build-up of dirt, oil, and bacteria that can lead to acne and impurities. And if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, try to switch out your pillow case multiple times a week.

Our Glycolic Acid Face Wash works great for removing impurities and cleansing the skin, making it a perfect canvas for your favorite skin care products in the morning. After cleansing, follow up with our Glycolic Acid Toner and our Anti-Aging SPF Moisturizer to leave your skin feeling fresh and radiant.

#3 - Beauty Tools to Wake your Skin Up

Sleeping on your side is one of the most common ways to sleep at night (and it’s definitely the most comfortable position). But when you sleep with your face on the pillow, it can cause you to wake up with puffier skin. A good way to de-puff the skin and wake it up is beauty tools. Using beauty tools such as jade rollers, guasha tools, or even just ice can really make a difference in waking the skin up in the morning.

When you apply your Glycolic Acid cream each morning, use a beauty tool such as a jade roller to massage the skin upward. Jade rolls encourage lymphatic drainage, boosting the skin’s natural detoxification process. Pair that with the effectiveness of the Glycolic Acid cream, and your skin will look like you just stepped out of the spa every morning.

Extra Tip #3: When using a jade roller, work it upwards to the top of your face and then bring it back down - to encourage the lymphatic drainage back down your neck. This is key for de-puffing the skin.

So, what should your morning routine look like?

Turn each morning into a luxurious experience with our Glycolic Acid Face Wash. Follow it up with our Glycolic Acid Cream, using a jade roller to feel extra fancy. But don’t forget, the best thing you can do for your skin is to get enough sleep - studies have shown that a lack of adequate sleep can lead to an overall look of aging of the skin. So get that beauty sleep!
