Skincare secrets for National Healthy Skin Month

Skincare secrets for National Healthy Skin Month

With the colder months just around the corner, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) has designated November the National Healthy Skin Month. This is a month to encourage people to give their skin a little extra care in preparation for the months when the skin typically experiences more dehydration.

The skin is the largest organ in the body and it reveals a lot about your health. With that being said, it’s important to care for it extensively, not just in November, but all year round. In the upcoming weeks, we will be sharing the best tips for you to care for your skin, starting with the top skincare secrets to keep your skin appearing radiant and healthy.

#1 Stay hydrated

Hydration is key not only for your internal organs, but also for your skin as well. According to the Mayo Clinic, “the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is: About 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids a day for men. About 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) of fluids a day for women.”

But it’s also important that you’re hydrating the skin with topical creams, such as moisturizers and serums. The best ingredients for the skin to hold onto the most amount of moisture is a class of ingredients called humectants. Humectants take the moisture from the air and bring it into the skin and the most common humectant is hyaluronic acid. Our Collagen Moisturizer is a great way to keep your skin hydrated on a daily basis as it contains hyaluronic acid, as well as antioxidant ingredients to protect the skin, such as Vitamin A, C, and E

#2 Care for your skin every day

The best thing you can do for the health of your skin is create a sustainable skincare routine that you can stick to on a daily basis. Getting extra services, like facials, are great on a monthly basis but if you’re not taking care of your skin every single day, you will not see results.

The easiest way to incorporate a new routine is to purchase products that are already included in a bundle package from the same company, since they are typically formulated to work with each other. At Touch, we have multiple skin care bundles for you to choose from. Whether your skin concerns include anti-aging, acne, hyperpigmentation, or keratosis pilaris - there’s a skincare bundle for you. Here a Touch Skin Care you can also find basic, but powerful products like our exfoliating body wash to upgrade your skincare regimen.

#3 Protect the skin every day

National Healthy Skin Month is all about encouraging people to maintain the health of their skin, and the best way to do this is to protect the skin from the sun. It is recommended that you apply an SPF of at least 30 on a daily basis, even if you’re spending time indoors as the sun can still penetrate through glass windows.

Protecting the skin from the sun will not only help you prevent sunburns and wrinkles, but it will also protect you from skin cancer. If you are going to be spending an extended amount of time in the sun, it is recommended to reapply every 80 minutes.

Our Anti-Aging SPF 30 Moisturizer is a lightweight SPF 30 cream that protects your skin from the sun while hydrating it with antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, and hyaluronic acid. It also absorbs quickly with an invisible finish, so say goodbye to walking around with a white cast on your skin.

Although National Healthy Skin Month is only one month of the year…

Since the skin is the largest organ and says a lot about overall health, it is imperative that you take care of your skin year-round. Not only will you prevent early signs of anti-aging, skin cancer, and sun spots, but you will also maintain a healthy and radiant glow so long as you maintain your skincare routine.
