Skincare lessons learned from Squid Game star Jung Hoyeon
Have you watched Squid Game yet? As Netflix’s new hit show, Squid Game is definitely taking over all social media platforms - specifically Tik Tok with all its hilarious remakes. Squid Game is a Korean drama in which the characters participate in multiple deadly games to receive a massive amount of prize money. This show will definitely have you on the edge of your seat but it’s not for the faint of heart as it is quite graphic.
As soon as we saw Jung Hoyeon (Kang Sae-byeok), we were taken back by her flawless skin. Even through sweaty scenes, her skin still appeared untouched. There are many lessons to be learned from the Korean skincare industry, estimated at $9.4 billion, with their 10-step skincare routines and extensive product lines. Beauty Tap asked Jung Hoyeon for her top skincare tips, and this is what she shared with viewers.
#1 Drink lots of water and wear sunscreen always
The Squid Game star mentioned that she drinks two litres of water a day, washes her face only with water when it’s morning, doesn’t touch her face often, and wears sunscreen daily. This is definitely a huge contributor to the flawless quality of her skin as the sun can be very damaging to the skin.
Our Anti-Aging SPF 30 Moisturizer is perfect to end your morning skincare routine, right before you’re heading out the door into the sunlight. With anti-aging properties and broad spectrum SPF, your skin will not only be getting nourished but also protected.
#2 Sheet masks are great for soothing the skin
Jung Hoyeon shared that she puts on a sheet mask before going to bed as it soothes her skin when it’s highly sensitive. This is a great way to add moisture to your skin and give yourself a little self-care time.
An addition to this self-care routine is using our Microdermabrasion Scrub, a medical grade exfoliating microdermabrasion scrub crystals in a smooth moisturizing cream that works together to give you a youthful & glowing complexion.
#3 Facial massages are great for depuffing the skin
In a video for Vogue, Jung Hoyeon shares that she uses a tool that massages her face, which is great for depuffing the skin and imparting a healthy glow by increasing blood circulation. Facial massages are a great way to increase lymphatic drainage in the skin, which allows the skin to boost collagen production and remove toxins from the skin.
If you want to skip out on the tools, using the tips of your fingers is a great alternative to this step. When you are applying your moisturizers, move your fingers in an upward motion to increase the blood circulation in the face. For example, when applying the Plant Collagen Moisturizer: apply a generous amount to the skin and then using the middle finger and pointer finger, move the fingers upwards along the cheeks. Doing this every day when you apply your creams will lead to chiseled cheekbones. Give this a shot for 30 days and see the difference!
