Skincare Mistakes to Avoid

Skincare Mistakes to Avoid

If you’re new to the world of skincare, you may be unaware of the top mistakes that you should avoid. These mistakes are the most common ones that everyone has made once or twice so don’t feel too bad if you have made some of these!

#1 Sleeping with makeup on

When we sleep, our skin gets the chance to renew itself. So when you sleep with makeup on, the makeup absorbs deeper into the pores, disrupting the skin cell regeneration process, which can lead to makeup-induced acne. If you are somebody who tends to fall asleep before you take your makeup off, keep a box of makeup wipes by your bed to avoid this!

Since the skin renews itself at night, it’s the perfect opportunity to pile on all your best skincare products right before bed. Start your night routine with our glycolic acid cleanser, follow up with the Glycolic Acid Toner, and then end the night with our Collagen Moisturizer. These products will penetrate the skin’s top layer as you sleep, providing your skin with the moisture and repair it needs.

#2 Touching your face too much

Imagine all the things we touch throughout the day - and if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, you definitely do not want to be putting all those germs on your skin. If you can’t get out of the habit of touching your face, carry around hand sanitizer so that you can avoid getting bacteria on your skin.

To the best of your ability, try to avoid resting your face on your hands or rubbing your face. And if you have acne, definitely avoid picking at your pimples. When you pick at your pimples, you can cause scarring to occur and you can also spread the acne bacteria to other parts of your face.

#3 Not having a consistent skincare routine

Yes, skin care products are great! And having a routine is a must. But if you only go through your skincare routine once in a while, you are not giving the products enough time to really work their magic. Finding a skincare routine you love is the first step, but making sure you are consistent with it is the more important step. Make your routine fun! Play some music, light a candle, and give your skin the refreshing routine it deserves.

And if you’re brand new to the skincare world with no idea where to start, at Touch we have many different skincare bundles you can grab and start whenever. There’s a routine for those concerned with acne, anti-aging, hyperpigmentation and discoloration, or for the summertime, or products for keratosis pilaris and other specific skin conditions.

#4 Skipping out on the SPF

Sunscreen should be your best friend, especially if you live somewhere sunny. Going out in the sun without sunscreen is the quickest way to age the skin rapidly, leading to sun spots, wrinkles, or hyperpigmentation. Make sure you are applying an SPF of at least 30 every day. Our Anti-Aging SPF 30 Moisturizer is perfect for applying on the skin every morning!

#5 Not washing your makeup brushes/tools

Makeup brushes and tools contain so much bacteria that continue to build up over time. By using these tools on your face without consistently washing them, you are inviting bacteria on your skin. Over time, this can lead to a build-up of bacteria which can cause acne to form. Wash your makeup brushes and tools once every week if you wear makeup more often and once every 2 weeks if not.

These mistakes are not going to seriously damage your skin, so don’t be afraid if you make them every once in a while. But if your goals for your skin involve it appearing fresh and radiant at all times, make sure to avoid these mistakes!
